LaShell Rivers' New Book 'Hey Homegirl' Shares a Poignant Journey Throughout Acceptance and Learning to Love Oneself

LaShell Rivers, a single mother and a teacher, has completed her most recent book “Hey Homegirl”:  a gripping and potent narrative that accounts a woman’s journey as she battled abuse and suffered mental disorders which made her life more difficult than it already is growing up.

LaShell writes, “She was born in Washington, DC, to a very low-income family, a time in which the ’80s introduced drugs to their area. She moved to Virginia, where less black people resided, and had to figure out a lot on her own. Facing verbal abuse, she later became mentally disabled and found it difficult to accept. She pursued her dreams, even without success. She sought help and began to love herself; however, all of that came at a cost.”

Published by Fulton Books, LaShell Rivers’ book is a touching memoir of a life that learned to live despite the endless pain it has embraced over the years.

In this life tale, readers will find a woman’s journey worth telling.
